Organic Food in Dallas
My Aussie friend, Flick, read my blog posts about food and steered me toward Sunflower Farmers Market.
So today I cruised over and checked out the Ross and Henderson Sunflower Market near my office. It was love at first sight!
I picked up a bag of nice cherries for $1.69 and some blackberries for a buck. These will go great with ice cream when my extended family arrives tomorrow.
The place also had granola on sale, so I got some for my dad. And for my mom, who can't eat wheat, dairy, or soy, I found some yummy rice-based crackers with a kick of wasabi. I hope they last till she gets here.
Apparently Sunflower Farmers Markers are thirty-five no-frills, full-service grocery stores that operate in these states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Oklahoma, and Texas. (Here in the Lone Star State they used to operate as Newflower Farmers Market.)
The sales clerk told me I picked the best day to check them out--Wednesday--as they run ads every week, and on Wednesdays they honor sales prices from both the previous week's ads and those for the week ahead.
I love Whole Foods, but my sister's friends call it "Whole Paycheck" for a reason. Now I have a less-expensive go-to place for the good stuff. Thanks, Flick!
