Evangelicals Support Immigration Reform

Yesterday's New York Times included a lead story on how evangelicals have shifted on the immigration issue. You can read that here. For the issue of Kindred Spirit Magazine dedicated to biblical thinking on the subject, go here.

Evangelicals Mobilize To Capitol Hill
on Immigration Reform for the First Time
Hundreds of Evangelical Leaders Will Celebrate

National Day of Prayer and Action on April 17

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As Congress and the nation prepare for the introduction of immigration reform legislation as soon as Tuesday, hundreds of pastors, denominational leaders, heads of evangelical organizations and other leaders will gather in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, April 17 for the “Evangelical Day of Prayer and Action on Immigration Reform.” This unprecedented, nationwide evangelical gathering on immigration will show a unified evangelical voice echoing a biblical vision for immigration reform that respects the rule of law, reunites families and upholds human dignity.
This Day of Action will feature a 9:30 a.m. Capitol Hill press conference with national and local evangelical leaders discussing the Evangelical Immigration Table’s efforts to provide strength and support to lawmakers on commonsense fixes to our immigration laws.
At 11 a.m. hundreds of leaders from Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin will join a morning worship service. Delegations will then meet with Congressional representatives and their staff to discuss the evangelical support for fair and practical reform that includes an earned path to citizenship.
