Holocaust Remembrance Day Begins at Sundown

Yad Vashem, Jerusalem. This pathway leads down to the children's memorial. Hollowed out to form an underground cavern, the area gives tribute to the Jewish children who perished during the Holocaust. Inside memorial candles, a customary Jewish tradition to remember the dead, light its dark space. These candles cast their reflections infinitely in mirrors, giving the impression of millions of stars. In the otherwise hushed setting, the names of murdered children, their ages, and countries of origin, can be heard in the background as they are read endlessly. May we never forget. And may we never remain silent in the face of injustice.
