Grilled Avocados?

Last week I met my friend Mary DeMuth and her daughter Sophie for lunch in Rockwall at Chiloso (they also have one in Wylie). The place may look plain on the outside, and it's noisy on the inside because so many people from Rockwall High School seem to have discovered it. But the food, and for the price = great stuff.

"D Magazine" describes Chiloso as the "Best Breakfast for $5.00 or less," and the mag also says their tacos are "better than anything on South Congress." But I wouldn't know. The first time I went, Mary introduced me to the grilled and stuffed avocados. I've now made three visits and every time I had to have them again.

While you watch, the cooks scoop avocados out of their shells, remove the pits, and toss in some oil and lime juice. Then they grilled them till they're just a little charred on the outside and stick them in a bed of yummy queso.  On top goes grilled chicken (or other meat of your choice), jack cheese, and fresh cilantro.  Ohmygoodnessgracious.
