Engaging the Culture on Issues that Matter
Kregel Publications reports that From the Garden to the City: The Redeeming and Corrupting Power of Technology by John Dyer has been named in Outreach magazine's Resource of the Year Awards in the culture category. The magazine made their announcement in the March/April 2012 issue of Outreach.
A Feb. 21, 2012, press release from Outreach magazine describes the importance of this award: "These resources deserve accolades, but Outreach Resources of the Year is about more than that," said Outreach editor Brian Orme. "We strive to help churches share God's love, reach their communities and change the world. Drawing their attention to the best resources available each year is one way we do that."
The top resources were chosen by independent panelists who are each experts in their fields of study. Andy Crouch, an author and member of the editorial board of Books & Culture magazine, says From the Garden to the City is a "creative, unpredictable and surprisingly moving introduction to thinking as Christians about technology" and is "the ideal 'first book' on a topic that deserves much more Christian reflection and attention."
“I'm honored that From the Garden to the City was included in a list of such outstanding resources," says John Dyer. "I hope the book will serve as a helpful introduction for those wanting to know more about how technology fits into the story of God as well as those wanting to know how the church can utilize technology in service of its mission."
Also chosen in the culture category was friend Carolyn Custis James for her work that we've featured here: Half the Church.
