That Ain't Right
Half the Christian community in Iraq now lives in ghettos in Damascus, Lebanon, and Jordan.Coptic Christians in Egypt cannot work at government jobs, and they can't join the military. In southern Sudan 2.1 million people have died--mainly those who profess Christ, but also some Muslims and animists. In China roughly thirty Catholic bishops have been arrested. Hundreds of Protestant pastors and house church leaders are imprisoned and persecuted. A week ago in central Vietnam, thugs said to be acting at the direction of local authorities attacked a pastor and his family with iron bars and wooden clubs.
I'd like to see our elected officials speak out again, in the traditions of Carter and Reagan, calling attention to human rights violations.
