Love Is in the Air

Our nephew, his fiancee, and my hubby's brother arrived in Dallas from D.C. for the weekend so Gary's mom could meet the bride from Ethiopia. (The wedding is coming up in August.) After their dinner with Grammy, the travelers met us for a dessert celebration on the bar floor of Five Sixty atop Reunion Tower.

In the past we have gone up there a few times for dessert to celebrate super special occasions. The glistening lights of the city's spectacular skyline from 560 feet in the air add such a special touch to a celebration.
Now, previously the menu, food, and service were all so-so, but we tolerated these for the view. Yet all that has changed. Master chef Wolfgang Puck has reopened the space with his signature on it, and while the cost for food at the new restaurant has doubled, each dessert was a visual work of art, each bite delicious, and the service outstanding.
The glass elevator still whisks guests up fifty stories. The floor-to-ceiling windows lining the restaurant still offer 360-degree views of Dallas as the room revolves. But the new decor is a lovely upgrade providing a classier ambiance. And the dessert menu has received a serious upgrade. Mango cheesecake. Chocolate souffle. Hazelnut chocolate mousse. Texas peach cobbler. Yeah, these pretty much beat the previous chocolate milkshakes. A memory to savor.
