Brands and Me

34% of bloggers post opinions about brands. Count me among them.

I love Travelzoo.com for its great discounts on travel, lodging, and entertainment.
I like Whole Foods, but a lot of their stuff needs a lower price tag.
I think the dollar theater in my town rocks.
I was frustrated with my Prius today because it got only 45.5 mpg on a 102-degree day (too much drain from the A/C). (Subtle way of saying I love the gas mileage in this car, which you are probably sick of hearing.)
I like Netflix, because I can order stuff from there that I cannot get at Blockbuster or Redbox...stuff like documentaries, educational programming, BBC specials, and series like Foyle's War. STUFF THAT MAKES PEOPLE THINK.
I like this excerpt from Lisa Bloom's book, Think. I love it when females use their brains and talk about truly important stuff more than they discuss nail polish colors, home decorating, the murder in Florida, Arnold's cheating and/or J-Lo's diet. That is why "thinking that transforms" is my tagline (see my web site).
I like my iPhone better than I liked my Blackberry. I didn't think I would, but I do.
I like Blogger. But I find it amusing that Blogger's own spell-check flags the word "blogger" as a misspelling.
I love playing Words with Friends (WWF or phone Scrabble). Through using it I can interact with people like two of my nieces every day (one's in Oregon, one's six blocks away). The game also provides wonderful five-minute mind-stretching rewards after writing a tough scene, sitting in line at the bank, or waiting at the school to pick up my girl.
The best and worst (most troubling) book I've read so far this year: Half the Sky.
I think it's cool having the NY Times headlines come directly to my in-box every morning--for free.
Most sobering Bible verse I read this week: "But once he became powerful, his pride destroyed him" (2 Chron. 26:16). (I use the NET Bible version.)
Few smells top the aroma-blast of coffee when I open the door at Starbucks.
I like USA TV shows--especially Burn Notice.
I think the idea V-8 had to create juice that contains two servings of fruit/veggies was brilliant. It tastes decent, and it's helping me get more of the good stuff in my diet. I like the pomegranate and acai berry flavors.
Hillary Hahn and Natalie Zhu's violin/piano "Mozart: Violin Sonatas" = sublime.
What about you? What stuff do you like?

For another of my opinions, this time about the book, The Millennials, go here.
