Cat's Cradle

Satirical. Subversive. Sardonic. That’s how I’d describe Kurt Vonnegut's 1963 sci-fi novel, Cat’s Cradle. In it a writer's attempt to research the atom bomb’s history leads to an apocalypse on the shores of a Caribbean republic. Ever made a cat’s cradle with string? No literal cat or cradle, right? Vonnegut weaves the irony of this image throughout as he mocks the insanity of our century.
