Fathers and Sons
Today I started reading the next book on my PhD list, Fathers and Sons, written in 1862 by Ivan Turgenev. The title is actually Fathers and Children in Russian (Отцы и дети --Otcy i Deti), but English-speakers tend to think the shorter "sons" sounds better. Whatev.
The book explores the growing division between generations and also between two movements within Russia at the time, the liberals of the 1830s/1840s and the nihilists.
I am reading with one eye on the Olympics. NBC has so many commercials that I actually get a lot of reading done.
And now, a moment of silence for Chile... So sad.
