Disaster in Haiti

My AOL news stayed focused on the "crisis" at NBC (i.e. Conan's demotion). And the New York Times listed their top story as Google's threat to leave China. So in case your news sources were too busy reporting on Oprah's dieting tips to tell you, a huge earthquake (7.0) hit Haiti yesterday, killing France's U.N. mission chief and thousands of others. Rescue workers are struggling to reach survivors in a nation with high population, poor construction practices, and many aftershocks expected. People on the scene describe screaming and general mayhem. The quake destroyed the U.N. mission building, the presidential palace looks lopsided, and many people still lie trapped. Please pray for Haiti and give to your favorite humanitarian charity. My favorites are Samaritan's Purse, World Vision, and the Red Cross.
