Modern Art Day
Last Friday in Paris Amanda and I began the day with a trip to The Pompidou Center, a Paris modern art museum with a funky exterior that boasts such names as Picasso, Kandinsky, and Mondrian.
 We took the famous exterior elevator up to the top, which has a grand view of the city. Actually, we had great views all the way up. |

What we lacked in fantastic weather, we made up for in low crowd volumes.

From The Pompadou we proceeded to the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur (Sacred Blood). Finally, we saw dazzling sunshine.

Making our ascent, we saw the first signs of spring.

Behind the church we found a square filled with artists painting and selling. So we sat at a sidewalk cafe, ordered lemon (Amanda) and chocolate (me) crêpes, added coffee, and people-watched. Around the corner, we found the Salvador Dali museum.

In addition to the well known "melting time" pieces, Dali has some wonderful depictions of OT stories, NT scenes, and paintings of the twelve tribes of Israel he did to commemorate Israel's 25th anniversary.

On the way home, we stopped to see famous windmills, including the Moulin Rouge, before
dropping by the former home of Victor Hugo (right side). So much to see, so little time!
