The Weekend in Photos

Thursday morning I took my creative writing class to the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA), a highlight of the semester.  (Photo: Chihuly Window)
Thursday night I hosted a "Welcome to Texas Taco Bar" when my sister's (Carrie's) family arrived from Washington state with my Oregonian parents.  Bride, groom, parents and sister of bride joined us. 10 PM party--was only 8 PM west coast time. My nephew is wearing a fake mustache. Yeah, he's an actor.
Friday while I taught, Carrie's family and our girl went to Six Flags. That night, while my parents were at the rehearsal dinner, Carrie's family and mine went with our Aussie friends to the Mesquite Rodeo. In the words of Henry Rouse, "I think the animals won." On Saturday morning, we had a reception-decorating party.  Pattersons, EJ, Kelly and Jonah Wagoner, my girl, me (taking photo), and Chris and her kids (mentor of the bride) all pitched in and had it done in less than two hours. My hubby stayed home to shuttle my parents to the wedding early for photos.
Sisters! "In all kinds of weather we stick together, the same in the rain or sun..."
This sister is heading from sun to rain. She and her hubby moved from our neighborhood (after 10 years) to Seattle, leaving the morning after the wedding. Here I had the luxury of 20 minutes' alone time with her and her hubby to recap the fab day after we cleaned up after the reception. Tearful goodbye. Gonna be a tough one...
Sunday we enjoyed a morning of worship with Pattersons (Dad didn't feel well, so he and Mom stayed back). Nothing like hearing my widowed sis, Carrie, sing "You are God alone...and right now in the good times and bad, you are God alone, you are on your throne" and add in my ear, "Knowing that is what gets me through."

Today the Western group is on their way home through Houston (photo texted by niece Julia from Houston/Hobby). We met for breakfast at the hotel. Prayed together for safety for all our family spread far and wide, and traveling. Blessings on the bride and groom!
Now we pack for Gary's trip to India/Kenya.

(Photos of bride and groom for a later time, after they get to post their faves first. Suffice it to say, it was all beautiful!)
