New Year Clean-up

Before my teaching semester begins on Wednesday, I felt the need to clear out a lot of junk that accumulated while I focused on passing comps. So early last week I took a box of books, magazines, and CDs to Half Price Books. I loved walking out of that store with cash in my hand.
Later in the week I told this to a friend, and she mentioned that some electronics stores also pay for used phones and iPods. So I did an internet search and found such a store near us. Last night my husband took a stash of electronics equipment, and Best Buy paid us for the some of our goods. Donations included old cassette players, phone rechargers, and a VCR. Even though they didn't pay us for these, the store promised to recycle them correctly.

In all, I made about a hundred bucks on junk that was just in my way. That's my kind of deal!
