You Are Invited!

You are invited...if you are a single female.

Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship is sponsoring a singles conference, "Breaking Free: Putting the Pieces Back Together" on September 15 and 16. It is for men and women, but I have been asked to do an all-chick session during the Friday night opening time, and perhaps again on Saturday. My topic: Let’s Be Real: Single Doesn’t Necessarily Equal Satisfied. Here's the 411: What's wrong with desiring companionship? Is it ungodly to want to be successful on the job? Why are women often so unhappy with our physical appearance? We'll consider the moanings and itchings that accompany living as women on earth. (Yeah, I know I am not single, but I have somehow fooled my friend, sweet Lynzee, into thinking I have something to say to singles anyway. You have to love that in a friend!) Registration is now open.

You are also invited...if you have two X chromosomes, that is.

The Howard G. Hendricks Center for Christian Leadership at Dallas Theological Seminary and the Association of Women’s Ministry Professionals are hosting a conference for women, All About Influence, on Monday, November 6, on the Dallas Seminary campus. The keynote speaker is Carol Kent. Last year the event sold out well in advance, so sign up when registration opens August 1 if you want to attend. The cost is $75, which includes lunch.

I am on the docket to present one workshop twice: Rx for the Highly Caffeinated, Tech-Savvy, Overcommitted Woman: Trendwatch and Response. One-fourth of all U. S. adults are obese. We spend more than $4 billion/year on cosmetic surgery. More than 160 million own cell phones. Babyboomers are 500 percent more likely than their parents to be single by choice, chance, or divorce. There are five million more American women than men. Women own 72 percent of social assistance businesses. Learn about trends affecting women, and consider ways to minister to the overworked smart girl.

Hope to see you at one or both of these events!
