How I Am

It has been a wild week. We returned from Europe last Saturday, and I turned around and flew to Louisville to speak Monday night and Tuesday morning. By noon Tuesday I was flying back to Dallas. I waded through my 100+ phone and e-mail messages, eliminated half of the four-inch stack of papers that had accumulated, and went to see my ortho trauma guy on Thursday. (About that time I was thinking I needed a vacation from the vacation. The pace in Europe was terrific. The pace in the U.S. of A., not so much.)

I prepared myself to hear that I have done a miserable job of handling my own physical therapy and that I was going to have to get out$ide help. (I cannot yet hold my arm straight up in the air four months post-op.) Yet, to my utter surprise, the doc told me I am making good progress and to keep it up. Yesterday for the first time since October, I drove up to the ATM machine and used my left side instead of reaching over with my right. I can carry my purse again and open doors with my left hand. So I guess I am better. Just impatient! The hip has hurt on and off, and he told me that will happen for about a year. Ugh. But at least I know everything is normal. I have to keep doing the daily ultrasound treatments and swim for about thirty minutes a day. But I have every hope of regaining the full range of motion.

In other news the Bible study series is due off the press any moment. The U.S. Postal Service probably has it somewhere between here and Chattanooga. I cannot wait to hold the four books in my hands. Now to get a prayer team together, secure reviews, market stuff. I need all the help I can get!

Ahead this week: On Wednesday I tape a podcast with Dr. Reg Grant and the bible.org folks (they get 3.5 million hits/year on their site) discussing The Da Vinci Code. On Saturday I present a four-hour conference on infertility and pregnancy loss at North Richland Hills Baptist Church. If you know of people who might benefit from this event that is open to the public, send them here.
